Are You A Good Cook?
How many cookbooks do you own?
Maybe one or two that your parents gave you when you were first starting out
A few good basic cookbooks, and you use them a little
A ton of them, including a collection of your own recipes
A pretty good diversity, but you mostly use them for inspiration
If you were having some friends over for dinner what would you be most likely to cook?
Frozen food that you pass off as your own
Spaghetti with homemade garlic bread
Mexican-Japanese fusion spicy sushi with fried mac and cheese
Seared tuna with wasabi mashed potatoes
And for dessert?
Cookies from refrigerated dough
What does your cupboard look like?
Full of ramen and other packaged foods
Functional: pasta, rice, beans, sauces, a few spices
Overflowing with unusual items and spices, but sometimes you're lacking in basics
Packed: you have a few varieties of each kind of staple, plus lots of ethnic and gourmet stuff
After you've cooked a meal for someone, they've usually described it as:
Cooking a meal for someone? Yeah, right!
What kitchen appliances do you use the most?
You can't pick just one... you're addicted to appliances. You even buy lots you don't use!
Your wok, your mixer, you oven, your ice cream maker, your grille
What's your overall philosophy with cooking?
Don't do it
Make it as easy as possible
Practice makes perfect
Never make the same thing twice
Cooking good meals is very rewarding, and much better than eating out
