"I know this isn't the end of the world, but it sure feels like it."
"This stinks, but I know we'll patch things up."
"Wow, this is probably the end of our relationship."

You'll be lucky if things are as good as they are now
You expect things to be the same, with a few improvements

Expect you'll be great friends for a long time
Look forward to getting to know this person better
Figure they're probably a bore in real life
